Audra Mcdonald is an exceptional artist due to her range of talents and the variety of her talents as a singer and actor. In 2015, she won record-breaking seven Tony Awards as well as two Grammy Awards and the Emmy Award. In addition, she was named as a result of Time magazine among the 100 most influential individuals and awarded her the National Medal of Arts - the most prestigious honor given in America to recognize artistic accomplishment as awarded by President Barack Obama. McDonald was born in a musical family in Fresno, California. She underwent classical vocal instruction from the Juilliard School of New York. Her other credits for theater are The Secret Garden (1993) Marie Christine (1999) Henry IV (2004) 110 in the Shade (2007) Twelfth Night (2009) that marked the release of her Public Theater Shakespeare in the Park debut Shuffle Along or the Making of the Musical Sensation from 1921 along with All That Followed (2016) Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune (2019) and Ohio State Murders (2023). The Peabody Award-winning CBS program Having Our Say The Delany Sisters The First 100 Years which first introduced McDonald to the television audience as a dramatic actress. In the following years, she co-starred with Kathy Bates and Victor Garber in the highly acclaimed 1999 remake by ABC and Disney of Annie and, in 2000, was a frequent guest on NBC's popular series Law & Order Special Victims Unit. McDonald was awarded her first Emmy for her role on the HBO versions of the Pulitzer Prize winning play Wit directed by Mike Nichols, starring Emma Thompson. In 2003 she was back on television but this time on Mister Sterling produced by Emmy Award-winning Lawrence O'Donnell Jr., with Josh Brolin. She joined The Bedford Diaries on the WB show The Bedford Diaries in early in the year. Following the season, she played in a role that was recurring on the NBC program Kidnapped. In the year 2016, McDonald was nominated for a fourth Emmy Award for her appearance in HBO's Lady Day at Emerson's Bar Restaurant & Grill, a movie-special. The Bite is a drama which has six episodes, based on the pandemic that was co-produced with Spectrum Originals & CBS Studios. The show featured her alongside Taylor Schilling & Steven Pasquale. She starred in 2009 as U.S. Attorney Liz Lawrence in CBS's legal drama The Good Wife. In the year 2018, McDonald reprised her role as Liz Reddick as a regular in Paramount+'s The Good Fight. She was awarded three Critics Choice Award nods for the performance. In the present, she's a guest star in Julian Fellowes' historical drama The Gilded Age, which airs on HBO.
